Buy 3, Get One Free
Borders, Kohls, Filenes's Basement, & Barnes & Noble. What do all these businesses have in common? Junk email! The worst thing about it is that I voluntarily signed up for it. It was the promise of the almighty discount that persuaded me. The trouble is, most of the time the coupons don't apply to me. This is very similiar to coupons for the grocery store. For example: buy 3, get one free. What is a single woman, living in an apartment with limited storage space, going to do with 4 jars of mayonnaise. If I'm going to get suckered into 4 jars of mayonnaise, it's going to be a well know brand like Hellman's, not some unheard of brand like "Aunt Sissy's Sandwhich Spread".
But I digress. I never receive anything juicy in my email. Email for me has lost it's luster. It was fun at the beginning. The novelty has worn off and it's just plain ole boring. It's just like my mailbox at home. Cluttered with a bunch of useless crap. (it's time for me to do some serious un-subscribing) Although I have to admit, when Yahoo added chat as a feature to email I was excited. However, the problem with that is the advertisements. Every message you type is sponsored. It kills the whole chat experience. Overtime Facebook will morph into just another nuisance like email. Actually it already has. I always feel this underying pressure to have some clever quip on my mind. Lately, there hasn't been anything on my mind. My latest post- "shoobie doobie". Total desperation post, and totally lame.
