J'adore medieval style churches. This is St. Columbas Episcopal Chapel in Middletown, RI. I much prefer riding the back roads opposed to the interstate. There is always something fabulous waiting to be discovered.
Great pictures, and what a tree that is, with its myriad of branches! I enjoy walking through old graveyards. I find them very meditative and full of history.
As for your other tree issue, that's a good idea to try and pick off the very surface of the bark, hopefully though, it won't get exposed to disease. :(
