The symbolism of the tortoise is not so much about being slow, but about carrying a load on its back.
She is one of my totem animals! I love the native american Indian story of her carrying Mother Earth on its back and brought it back to life. I have 2 turtle tattoo's and have plans for a few more. The japanesse say the tortoise means longevity and good luck.
