Changes in Attitude

I always seem to be saying "Mean people suck!"  However, today, I get to shout "Nice people rule!"

I was walking home from the station this afternoon when it started to rain.  Suddenly I hear someone yell, "I'll trade you a ride home for your fresh vegetables!" I retort "I'd rather walk home in the pouring rain than give you my corn on the cob.  Especially so since I was fiercely disappointed last week when I bought corn on the cob at the supermarket.  It tasted awful.  I called it "cow corn."

We share a laugh and I continue walking home.  Then I hear "oh miss." I turn around and the same couple offers to give me a lift home.  "I hate to see you get stranded in the rain." I just thought that that was the sweetest thing ever.  The two of them are sitting in their SUV with the kindest, friendliest smiles on their faces.  Despite being suspicious by nature, I decide to trust this innocent looking couple.  Their names are Mike and Sue and they live in the neighborhood.  I actually see Sue quite a bit at the train station and around the city.  It's funny at lunch time I'll be walking down Newbury St. and I'll recognize someone from the train.  Sue is no exception.

The moral of this story is in this cruel and sometimes dangerous world we live in, it was nice to be able to let my guard down and trust two strangers.
